In this 4-month mentorship program, we’ll focus on mastering fundamental skills and gradually applying them to different subjects, helping you become a well-rounded artist. Each month builds on the previous one, blending technical growth with artistic vision:
Month One: (Track 1) New mentees will have access to previously recorded class sessions that walk through foundational exercises. These include composition basics, value studies, and an introduction to color. You’ll work through structured assignments such as thumbnail sketches, Notan studies, and simple value exercises like the sphere.
Month One: (Track 2) For new and returning mentees, Month One will explore more complex color and value relationships through a series of exercises in our weekly live class over Zoom.
Month Two: Develop foundational skills through still life from life. Using an apple, we will analyze the composition, block-in the color, and refine the painting. Glazing techniques will also be introduced.
Month Three: Build on those skills with a floral painting. Explore how to create dynamic compositions, layer colors effectively, and capture the essence of floral subjects.
Month Four: Apply your technical skills to portraiture. Focus on proportions, observing light and shadow on the face, painting natural skin tones, and creating a lifelike portrayal.
Includes weekly live Zoom sessions, personalized feedback, and a year of access to recordings and resources.
Ideal for artists with a strong foundation in oil painting who are ready to pursue more complex or self-directed projects. Whether it’s a portrait, multi-figure composition, floral, intricate still life, or a series, this program helps you achieve your artistic goals.
Tailored Plan: Set goals at the start and work toward them with a custom plan.
One-on-One Meetings: We will schedule Monthly Zoom sessions to discuss progress, refine techniques, and overcome challenges.
Weekly Feedback: Send progress shots or ask questions for personalized guidance.
Live Demo Access: Participate in the live demo sessions from the Standard Mentorship, with full access to the recordings for review at your convenience.
Resource Page: Ongoing access to all Standard Mentorship materials and resources.

Studio & Professional Practice: Optional guidance on topics like portfolio development, navigating commissions, and self-promotion, websites, or social media. Get tailored advice on navigating the art world—whether that’s preparing to approach galleries, pricing your work, or sharing it more effectively online.
If you choose the Advanced Mentorship, you'll begin with a more self-directed track, focusing on your own independent projects from the start. You’re also encouraged to participate in all Standard Mentorship classes.

“Stephanie is an excellent artist and teacher. In addition to always offering very helpful feedback and critiques of my work, she also helped me a ton with the practical and necessary aspects of being an an artist i.e. encouraging me to get a website which I finally did, tips for finishing work and valuable feedback at various stages of painting. She is very generous with her knowledge and always shares what she knows and encouraged conversation among the group for us to share ideas as well. She’s also very encouraging and relaxed which makes the whole process less daunting and I really appreciate, especially when I am trying to balance the mentorship with other life/family obligations!!”
“I loved your gentle, kind support. The critiques were always met with positive remarks and ways to improve. I like the systematic approach that really gives a clear and solid foundation. The fact that everything was consistently repeated helped to integrate the system. I would often forget and pull myself back. I also really found the paint set up with the gradients and complementary color was so very helpful too.”
“I love watching your thought process as you paint, the way you mix colors using gradients and especially the softness you impart on your paintings. The critiques were very thoughtful and very insightful and detailed. They helped advance my paintings to the next level. Also, your kindness and generosity shine in everything you do.”
“I think you are so organized and feel you thought of just about everything. I really can’t think of anything that wasn’t covered or offered. I so enjoyed everything!”
“I am very happy with the formats, both demo and individual critiques sessions, as well as with with very friendly atmosphere and ability to review the past demonstrations .”
“Stephanie has pushed me to return to paintings multiple times and not be afraid to work back into something, which has been really helpful for me, bc I would get paralyzed before being afraid I’d “ruin” a painting. I’m an Alla Prima painter by nature, so I’m pushing myself to do multiple sessions with Stephanie’s encouragement and finish more paintings!! She also encouraged me to look for opportunities to sharpen and define things more in certain places of my paintings, and to balance my more painterly style, and I think this has added depth and dimension to my work.”
“I really liked the systematic approach with the drawing, shadows and then slowly building color with each stage building on the other. Sometimes, it’s difficult for me to see the slight value or color difference, but I also think it’s a skill to keep looking.”
“Both [critiques and live sessions] were instrumental in helping move along as an artist. The critiques were really exceptional and showed a deep interest in helping the student.”
“I found Stephanie’s advices precious. She was very generous with her time and sharing her knowledge. For me it was super important to hear her critique in order to improve and grow.”
